The soul of the nation lies primarily in its cultural legacy. The Philippines, as an emerging country, prides herself with a unique, distinguishing history, thousands of years of indigenous Austronesian culture, a heritage brought about by some 300 years of Spanish rule, 50 years of American domination, and 4 years of Japanese occupation. The cultural genius resulting from such intercultural alchemy can at best be remarkable.
Our movement (Brown Movement for Cultural Advancement, Inc.) or Kilusang Kayumanggi hopes to go beyond and deeper. We have to overcome our cultural amnesia and uncover the ancient roots of our cultural genius.
